Read Across the Planet 2011

Page history last edited by Linda McDonald 13 years, 11 months ago

Initially created as a one-day event to celebrate reading on

Dr. Seuss' birthday

March 2

Step #1

Please create an account in the TWICE system:  http://projects.twice.cc/

Step #2

Log in to your new TWICE CAP Space account.

Register for the dates/times you are available.  Look for this link on the front page of CAP Space:

Our Technology Department will verify your equipment, make test calls, and set up connection details for you.

Read Around the Planet is a celebration of NEA’s Read Across America. Classrooms use

interactive video to connect with other classrooms “around the planet” and read to each other.

TWICE provides the registration tool, matches classrooms with partners, and provides support documents.

Your class will be matched with a class from a different location and each class will exchange reading activities. World language classes will receive a match with the same language, but

may not be the same grade level. Classroom to classroom connections will take place February 23 – March 11, 2011.

Each connection is scheduled for an hour:

15 minutes for testing connections and introductions;

30 minutes for the reading activity (15 minutes per class);

15 minutes for exchanging information about respective schools and communities.

Activities can range from reading a favorite book passage, to a “battle of the books”

format - see the box for other ideas.
